You will meet several dragons doing the main quest line. However, randomly generated dragons also appear in the wild. The further you progress the more will spawn throughout Skyrim. They are frequently seen near ruins containing Word Walls; exterior cells containing these walls can be identified by a Dragon's head icon on the map. If possible, take the time to observe the dragon and find out what kind of dragon it is.
