I think that the boy died in a car crash.. right after he died, he woke up in LIMBO as a ghost.. probably after exploring LIMBO for about a few chapters you finally see the girl in LIMBO as well.. my guess is that she maybe hung herself right under the treehouse after his death because she wanted to be with him. The reason why she maybe hung herself there is because they might've played there together. Great game.. best puzzle game ever played
