I'm going to take this interpretation in a bit of another direction, well my direction.
At the moment i'm still in the process of how i percieve females in real life, as i do not know wether to trust them or not, because of their abusive behaviour and attitutes towards men.

i tell you this because this was focus when i thought of this:
On one side we have pyramid who is forcefully enslaving people trying to re-establish a version of the old world.
On the other hand we have trip enslaving monkey trying to get back home and after that trying to take out pyramid who destroyed it.
If you look at it that way, trip and pyramid have something in common.
During the course of the game, monkey shows less and less resistance to being enslaved by trip and near then end even wants to be enslaved by her. Tempted by her inner and outer beauty.
When monkey tries the mask on, he sees what the others see: "a beautiful world, it almost seems as if he doesn't want to come back.
when you look at it that way the enslaved people would probably feel the same and this establishes my
trip = pyramid
enslaves enslaves
monkey = slaves
After that trip kills pyramid, the enemy of her dream world.
pyramid tries to do the same with humans who resist to the enslavement.
thus making pyramid and trip opposites and equals.
In real life being "enslaved" by a woman is tempting, you'll give up alot of freedom to fullfill her desire to form a perfect dream of happy family, marriage, kids, which can be a very beautiful dream to fullfill. The question is, won't this result in giving up your own dreams and real life (the wasteland) ?
The higher meaning in this is that you may choose to be enslaved by such a woman but you need to be careful not to lose yourself in it.
